Now that the Swiss Parliament has allowed UBS to disclose 4,450 names as part of the negotiated please bargain deal with the IRS, the criminal charges against UBS have been dropped.
“Based on information received to date and assurances by the Swiss government, we anticipate being in a position to withdraw the John Doe summons this fall,” the I.R.S. said in a statement.
Those who have not disclosed and aren't part of the 4,450 names still have a lot to be worried out. The IRS has other ways of finding accounts. The the voluntary disclosure forms completed by others includes the names of anyone — advisers and the like — associated with the accounts.
For anyone worried about missing the deadline to disclose and is having remorse, it may not be too late.
